What does 'to roll ones beer' mean?

I ordered a beer stubby at a motel bar and the guy asked me if I'd like it rolled... having never heard the term before, I said yes and watched what he did. All he did was give me a gl with it. So, is rolling a beer the act of pouring it into a gl rather than drinking it from the stubby?
